Larry Johnson (RB - Kansas City)

Johnson said after Sunday’s workout that he intends to play in Thursday’s preseason finale against St. Louis at the Edward Jones Dome. "If it was up to me, I'd play the whole game," Johnson said. "But they're not going to let that happen." The more likely scenario, coach Herm Edwards hinted, is that Johnson will only be in for a few series. "It will be real fast," Edwards said. "Don't blink."
Fantasy Insight:
A lot of people think that Johnson's run as an elite running back is over but not us. He put up solid numbers last with Damon Huard as the quarterback. We know that there are concerns about the line but coach Herman Edwards has always found a way to run the ball effectively.

Brandon Jackson (WR - Green Bay)

Jackson went down hard after a collision with another player during a 2-minute drill, and after taking a few more snaps in a non-contact 7-on-7 drill was unable to finish practice. Jackson, according to other players, suffered a blow to the head that most thought wasn't serious.
Fantasy Insight:
With Jackson out, the only healthy running backs were veteran Noah Herron, rookie free agent Corey White and seventh-round pick DeShawn Wynn, who was making his first appearance in practice after missing 18 days with a strained right thigh muscle. Veteran Vernand Morency still hasn't practiced since hurting his knee the first day of camp and is a question mark for the start of the regular season.

Maurice Stovall (WR - Tampa Bay)

Galloway is the primary receiver, the undisputed No. 1. But, coach Jon Gruden said, no player has stood out enough to win the other starting job. Stovall jumped out to the lead in training camp but faded in games. David Boston moved ahead of Stovall on the depth chart before being charged with DUI on Thursday. Ike Hilliard has been steady. Michael Clayton has been stealthy. Heading into the final preseason game, Gruden still is waiting to name the winner. "I don't know if stepping up is a good word," Gruden said. "I don't know if we have a clear-cut answer right now, but we do have good football players. If it's done by committee, as long as it gets done, I'll be happy."
Fantasy Insight:
Galloway makes a nice 3rd receiver on most fantasy teams since he should get 10 to 12 balls throw his way every game but we recommend that you avoid every other receiver, including Stovall.

Michael Turner (RB - San Diego)

Turner suffered a high ankle sprain in the second quarter of the Chargers' third exhibition game Saturday against the Arizona Cardinals. The opinion yesterday was that the injury was not major. Turner could be questionable up to the Sept. 9 season opener, but Norv Turner and General Manager A.J. Smith sounded optimistic. Of course, Smith was, like Norv Turner, cool about the whole thing. "You always get the initial prognosis," Smith said. "It means nothing to me for two days. (Not until) 48 hours later (do) you get into reality " what are we dealing with? Nothing I can do about it anyway. As long as it's not really bad, but we won't know for two days."
Fantasy Insight:
While Tomlinson led the league with 1,815 yards rushing and set an NFL record with 31 touchdowns, Turner still carried 80 times for 502 yards. No other team had one back carry 300 times and another 80 times.
